I don't even remember if I posted here the first time around, come to think. I was here for about four years then died off for a bit, but I decided to come back. Anyhow. I'm John Norum, and I play guitar for the band Europe, which I co-founded with joey_tempest about 3 decades ago. I left the band for a while, and they eventually broke up. When they decided to get back together I came back to reform the lineup that is best known for the album and song The Final Countdown. We've put out three albums since reforming and if I do say so myself, we're way better than we were back then. In between leaving the band and coming back I had my own solo career and have worked with many of the best musicians in classic rock. I wasn't especially social around here last time but I am giving it another shot now. It made a lot of sense in the Dark Ages of MBP, circa 2001-2005, when we had no registration process, so people would say "Okay, I've been kind of inactive and this person really wants the role, so I'm handing it over." That way, we'd know who was supposed to go on the masterlist. It still sort of makes sense sometimes, because people tend to care about their former roles even when the stop playing. At the same time, it makes no sense whatsoever in some cases, when people just hold grudges against someone and say they want to "pick replacement" while in fact, they just want to keep another person from playing the role.
